SUPPORTING THE
TALLAHASSEE CIVIC CHORALE

The Tallahassee Civic Chorale does not charge for performances, although it solicits private donations at performances held at its home in Turner Auditorium, TCC, and via emails and postcards to donors and members.  The Chorale also accepts funding from other sources, such as grants, corporate sponsorships, various fundraisers, and more.  And don't forget about our new Music Memories program to help support the cost of purchasing new music.  It's good to know that the Chorale also supports the community in turn, in its performances for the elderly.  And last but not least, the Chorale always accepts "sweat equity"!

Donations:

There are many different ways to donate money to the Chorale:
  • Matching employer contributions: be sure to ask your employer for a contribution that matches your own!  Many employers give matching contributions as part of their community outreach program.  Tell your employer that we will list the company or organization in the program and include it in our Corporate Sponsors list on this site, when it gives a matching donation.
  • Hold a fundraiser; or assist the Chorale in its regular fundraisers!.  Fund raisers can include anything.  See the Fundraiser section below for more information.
  • Patronize local businesses who have agreed to donate a portion of their profits to the Chorale.
  • Make a donation at one of our concerts.  The Tallahassee Civic Chorale gratefully acknowledges all of the generous individuals that have helped fund the current concert season!
  • If you wish to donate or for more information, please contact us!   Or download our DONOR FORM, and fill it out and send it, along with your contribution, to the address below (also on the Donor Form).  Coming: online donations to make it even more convenient!

Grants:

The Chorale receives grants from several sources, such as:

Fundraisers:

The Tallahassee Civic Chorale holds a number of fundraisers at various points throughout the year on a regular basis.  It also may hold fundraisers for special one-time-only occasions.  Support the Chorale by purchasing these high-quality products or by attending these events!
  • Pecan sales in the Fall of every year.  Prior to the Thanksgiving/Christmas "baking season", the Chorale sells its packs of premium Priester's Pecans (formerly Ross-Smith) at a reasonable price.

  • The Chorale 20th Anniversary CD - featuring all the songs that we sung for our 20th Anniversay Concert in Turner Auditorium, TCC, in May 2006.  This CD features high quality live performance recordings, and has been professionally mastered by Lifeline Audio and Entertainment of Tallahassee.
  • Benefit performances by Theatre A La Carte ("TALC") for the Chorale are usually held annually iin the Spring or Summer at Tallahassee Little Theatre.  TALC dedicates a certain portion of the proceeds to the Chorale.  These performances are well worth the cost, and feature quality scripts, talented amateur singers, actors, musicians and dancers, all led by an expert artistic staff.  Many of the performers are students at FSU's College of Music or School of Theatre, and some are seasoned community members.  The Chorale's Music Director, Mike Norris, is also the Music Director for TALC, and our Assistant Music Director, George Wilkerson Jr., has acted in lead roles in several of their productions, to great acclaim.  Our current President, Chris Gorsuch, is a founding member of TALC, and two more of our board members (Robert Watson and Sharon Christiansen) are frequently active in TALC as well.
  • Here is a fundraiser that won't cost you a dime!  The next time you need to search the internet, just use GoodSearch instead of your usual search site...a portion of the GoodSearch proceeds will be given to the Chorale for every search that you make!  See the GoodSearch site for more information.
  • Other fundraisers such as the sale of the Tallahassee Civic Chorale Cookbook, and various raffles, flea markets and garage sales have been held from time to time.
  • If you are interested in hosting a fundraiser for the Chorale, please contact us!

SUPPORT THE COMMUNITY
BY SUPPORTING
THE TALLAHASSEE CIVIC CHORALE
The Tallahassee Civic Chorale supports the community of the Big Bend Area by:
  • Performing in venues that allow those members of the community that cannot get around easily to hear good-quality choral music.  The Chorale regularly performs in assisted living centers and senior centers, and has also performed in public schools and community centers, all free of charge.

WE APPRECIATE ALL DONATIONS OF SWEAT EQUITY!

Over the years, the Chorale has been supported by the efforts of many hard-working folks.  These efforts are not just limited to financial donations.  They include, of course, the central work of the Chorale, which is making music.  Hats off to our musical director, co-director, accompanist, and our singers!  And don't forget those that perform other creative tasks, such as taking pictures, creating publicity and concert programs, and maintaining this website.

There is also the more mundane work of handling the finances, maintaining the music library, and keeping track of the roster.  It can also include hard physical labor such as installing bleachers and moving equipment.  And of course, there is the thankless task of fund raising!  These people, some of whom have moved on, have contributed their time and talents to the Chorale and made it what it is today.  These folks include our current and past board members, as well as many others who have volunteered over the years.  Our hats are off to these instrumental people!
